To mark the King’s Coronation, Harrogate BID (Business Improvement District) is encouraging residents to sign up to the ‘Big Help Out’ event, which is taking place on Monday May 8.
Harrogate BID, which aims to support, safeguard and improve Harrogate town centre, to make the town the best it can be, has signed up to co-ordinate the ‘Big Help Out’ in Harrogate town centre – which actually runs nationwide, with events taking place the length and breadth of the country.
They will be collating a master-list of volunteers ready to make a big difference in the town on May 8, which is an extra bank holiday across the UK.
Matthew Chapman, of Harrogate BID, says: “We are all hoping for a sunny Bank Holiday weekend as we celebrate the King’s coronation, which takes place on the Saturday.
“After the Coronation Celebration festivities and the event, which we are hosting at the Majestic Hotel, we hope to bring together the amazing goodwill within Harrogate to make a truly lasting difference.“We’ll be co-ordinating volunteers and matching them up to good causes which need an extra helping hand.
“You might be a dab hand with a paint brush or just someone willing to turn your hand to whatever is required on the day – litter picking will be a big part of the event! We’ll be co-ordinating everything so there’s a role for everyone.”
He added: “This is a marvellous town to live and work in, and a magnificent occasion to be a part of. We think it will be great fun, with a chance to meet new people in the community.”
