Harrogate is set to welcome a spectacular walk-through art installation to The Stray this June, as Luminarium transforms the space into a world of colour, light and sensory wonder.
Created by the internationally acclaimed Architects of Air and designed by Artistic Director Alan Parkinson, the monumental inflatable structure will be in Harrogate from 11–14 June 2026 as part of Harrogate International Festivals’ new Harrogate Unlocked programme.
Sponsored by Harrogate BID and supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, and funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority as part of Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund, Luminarium offers visitors a unique immersive experience featuring winding pathways and soaring domes illuminated by ever-changing natural light filtering through translucent fabric.
Designed to be gentle, calming and inclusive, the installation invites visitors of all ages to slow down and explore at their own pace.
Since 1992, more than three million people across 40 countries have experienced Architects of Air’s internationally renowned luminaria sculptures.
The event forms part of Harrogate International Festivals’ 60th anniversary celebrations and aims to bring more cultural activity into the town centre while supporting local businesses and encouraging footfall.
