Free Bus Travel for the Jubilee Celebrations
The Harrogate Bus Company and Harrogate BID teamed up to provide free rides all day on all the Harrogate Electric busses during the four-day platinum Jubilee celebrations to encourage people to come into town using public transport and to enjoy the celebrations. The ‘Jubilee Freeway’ initiative is part of the continued partnership between the town’s leading bus operator and Harrogate BID which also support free journeys on Sundays in January and February.
Sunday Freeway
Working with partners to provide free bus travel at targeted times of year.
Harrogate BID work with The Harrogate Bus Company and Transdev to provide free bus journeys into the town centre every Sunday throughout January and February on certain routes. In 2022, there were 4,869 passengers that used the Sunday Freeway.
As an addition to this, Harrogate BID did the same across the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend in June 2022, which was another success with an average of 42% more passengers over the four days travelling via bus.
