A celebrity vet is to be the star judge of a family dog show being held in Harrogate town centre on Easter Saturday, 8th April.
Being staged by Harrogate BID on the piazza in front of Victoria Shopping Centre, Peter Wright, the star of the hit Channel 5 series, The Yorkshire Vet will have the challenging job of choosing the winning pooches and runners-up.
Categories on the day include best trick, dog that looks most like its owner, and a dog agility course, with others to be announced as the event draws closer.
As part of last year’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, Harrogate BID together with Destination Harrogate and Your Harrogate staged a series of events at its four-day ‘Jubilee Square’, with the most popular proving to be a dog show.
This year’s dog show, which starts at 10am is being held in conjunction with Victoria Shopping Centre, Posh Paws and Your Harrogate, with prizes on the day being kindly donated by Posh Paws for each winner.
Harrogate BID Manager Matthew Chapman said “Such was the success of our Platinum Jubilee dog show that we have decided to make it an annual event, with this year’s show taking place in the town centre on Easter Saturday.
“And I’m delighted to announce that we have Yorkshire Vet, Peter Wright, leading the judging panel.
“We are inviting dog owners from across the District to come to Harrogate on the day to take part in this free-to-enter family fun dog show. Our dog show is open to all dogs, great and small, from puppies to elderly dogs, and pure breeds to ‘Heinz 57’ varieties.”

The classes are:
- Handsomest Dog & Fanciest Female
