The Harrogate BID Street Ranger duo continue to deliver the vital service to ensure the town remains a safe, clean and welcoming place for all.

The reactive, pre-planned, operational, public facing job is critical in the delivery of the Harrogate BID Business Plan – and both Samuel Ashby and Darren Jevons have adapted to their new roles in fantastic fashion.

From planned deep cleans and reactive jet washes in high footfall areas, to litter picking and repairing street furniture in key locations, no two days are the same for the team as they continue their top efforts to maintain the town centre for businesses, residents and visitors in the North Yorkshire town.

Since taking on their new roles at the Business Improvement District (BID) six months ago, between them Samuel and Darren have recorded more than 500 different jobs, supporting BID Members and the local community to look and feel the best it can.

Over the last three months, the team has covered more than 5,000 square metres with deep cleans in the town centre – alongside all of their other daily jobs and interactions.

The new equipment allows the Street Rangers to store up to 1,000 litres of water, which can be heated up to 100 degrees and used as a steam cleaner to remove dirt, grime and other tricky materials, such as chewing gum and moss, to keep the town looking the best it can all year round.

The team have offered a £40,000 return on investment to BID Member businesses over the last three months, carrying out jobs that would otherwise have to be contracted in without the Street Ranger service.

Matthew Chapman, Harrogate BID Manager, said: “Following expansion earlier this year, Samuel and Darren have both been excellent additions to our team at the BID.

“They’re a top team and work very well together – as shown by the hundreds of impactful and effective jobs they have already delivered to support our Members.

“Earlier this year we brought our deep clean service in-house as we purchased some brand-new equipment. The Street Rangers have really taken on this job with open arms and a positive mindset, covering key areas of the town centre already.

“As we move closer to the festive period, the Street Rangers have a plan in place and will be quick to respond to any requests from BID Members as our town looks forward to welcoming visitors from far and wide to enjoy the Christmas offer.”

The team work closely with the BID’s members, local authorities and other influential organisations within the town to create a town centre that is welcoming and accessible to all.
