The first ever Fathering Funday from Harrogate BID has been hailed a success in the town as crowds gathered to join in the football-themed fun.
The new free event, held on Saturday (June 15th) near the cenotaph in Prospect Place, saw families gather to join in with the challenges including beat the keeper, one vs one matches and kick-up competitions and enter the Euro 2024 sweepstake.
Although the event was cut short in the afternoon due to poor weather conditions, visitors and residents still had the chance to take part and join the draw for some top prizes.
Bethany Allen, Business and Marketing Executive at Harrogate BID, said: “It was fantastic to see families enjoying the football fun over the weekend.
“Unfortunately the bad weather got the better of us in the afternoon, but it was still great to get a few hours of action in.
“We’d like to give a huge thank you to Your Harrogate, the Harrogate Town Community Foundation and Harrogate Town AFC for partnering with us for the Fathering Funday and helping to ensure it was another successful event.”
The event was organised as a promotion for the Harrogate Gift Card, with a £200 card offered as the top prize. The Gift Card has more than 100 businesses, both national and independent, including retailers, bars, restaurants, hairdressers and hotels registered. Other prizes were kindly donated by local businesses from within the BID area.
Prize winners will be contacted by the BID team in the near future.
Fully funded by Harrogate BID, the Gift Card scheme aims to keep money within the town’s economy as it can only be spent with the registered companies, not out of town or online.
