In this latest edition of our Harrogate BID blog, we wanted to give a special shout-out to a charity that we work alongside for the amazing work they do to support others.
We work with Fairy Bricks to bring the Harrogate Lego Trail to life every year. They create all of the masterpiece models that feature on the route, from famous Harrogate in 2021 to fabulous fairy tale creatures this year!
Since forming through a single hospital donation back in 2012, Fairy Bricks has grown to deliver Lego to more than 200 hospitals in the UK and 26 other countries on an annual basis.
The charity has one overall objective – to give Lego to children to help them through difficult times while they are in hospital. The charity say that play is an established, proven part in the recovery process when young people are in hospital as it provides comfort, distraction and can even be used as an educational tool during time away from school.
Lego is an item that many children are familiar with and can provide them with an instant escape during challenging times. The Fairy Bricks team work alongside Play Specialists at hospitals to focus on the mental well-being of children while they are a patient and aim to lift sprits on the ward as much as they can.
Ed Diment, of the Fairy Bricks charity, said: “Fairy Bricks is excited to be working with Harrogate BID for the third time. Harrogate is the first outing for our brand-new Fairy Tales tour and the models look amazing displayed in businesses around the town.
“We’d like to thank all the partners who have taken models as part of the tour, especially for their help and keen interest in the show.
“We hope visitors will have enjoyed the trail and supporting Fairy Bricks in its work – and from the Fairy Tale characters ‘may you all live happily ever after’!”
As the Business Improvement District (BID) in Harrogate, we were keen to bring this fantastic work that Fairy Bricks do to light. We’re always looking to work in collaboration where we can as we know it always helps towards bringing top results.
We’ve had some really positive feedback on this year’s fairy tale-themed Lego Trail in our town, with thousands turning out to complete it. It always proves to be a popular event in our calendar and we can’t wait to bring it back with even bigger and better installations in 2025!
We’d like to offer a huge thank you to Fairy Bricks for creating the dynamic, unique displays that featured in the 2024 event – and we very much look forward to working alongside them again in the future.
