April has been another busy and successful month for Harrogate BID, with a strong programme of events helping to drive footfall and engagement across the town centre.
It was fantastic to see the return of the Harrogate Dog Show earlier this month, with strong attendance throughout the day and great feedback from businesses and visitors. Events like this continue to play an important role in attracting families into the town and supporting the wider visitor economy.
Alongside this, our first Easter Trail proved to be popular, with families exploring the town centre and engaging with local businesses. We are grateful to all participating businesses, as well as The Crown Hotel and Tesco, for their support.
We have also been pleased to support Harrogate’s presence at the Spring Flower Show, working alongside Harrogate in Bloom and Harrogate Flower Shows to promote the town to a wider audience.
As we move into May, we are continuing to focus on supporting our business community through both events and practical initiatives, including upcoming social media training sessions.
As always, we remain committed to delivering value for our levy payers and supporting a thriving town centre. If you have any feedback or ideas, please contact the BID team at: info@harrogatebid.co.uk
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Simon Midgley
Chair, Harrogate BID
Harrogate Dog Show 2026
The Harrogate Dog Show returned on Saturday, 11 April, bringing a fantastic atmosphere to the Victoria Shopping Centre Piazza.
Despite a mixed start to the day, the weather improved, and the event drew a strong crowd, with visitors enjoying a full programme of categories alongside a dog-themed market on Cambridge Street. Together, this helped drive increased footfall across the town centre.
We were delighted to welcome back Amanda Owen, the Yorkshire Shepherdess, who judged each category alongside her children, adding to the day’s appeal and drawing in visitors from across the region.
A huge thank you to our sponsors for supporting this year’s event:
Verity Frearson, Townhouse Design, Doodle HR, The Den, Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce, Hotel du Vin & Bistro and Nicholls Tyreman Estate Agents.
Easter Trail Success
Our first Easter Trail brought families into the town centre over the school holidays, encouraging visitors to explore local businesses.
Thank you to all participating businesses who helped deliver the trail, as well as The Crown Hotel and Tesco for supporting the initiative.
We were delighted to see so many families taking part and engaging with the town centre.
