The summer season is always jam-packed for us at Harrogate BID – and this year has so far been no exception!

Whether we’re building the perfect props for the Floral Summer of Celebration, planning the magnificent models for the Lego Trail, or supporting the design and creation of super street art projects, our team are always on the ball to deliver events, campaigns and services for the good of Harrogate.

Our Floral Summer of Celebration launched last week on July 18th – with a series of fantastic floral displays on show around the town centre until August 8th! We’re delighted with the great reception the exhibits have already received from local business owners, residents and visitors – with hopefully even more to come. We’ve had the Yorkshire in Bloom judges in town this week with the hopes of claiming even more prizes for the trail than we did at the 2024 awards… Cross your fingers for us!

Our ever popular and growing Harrogate Lego Trail will begin to appear in different locations around the town centre next week with a series of ‘Safari’ themed amazing animals and valiant vehicles taking over different businesses. A huge thank you again to those that have offered to host a model for the 2025 event! The Lego Trail is always one of the most popular in our calendar – with over 50,000 people taking part and completing the trail back in 2024. Don’t forget to scan the QR codes on each model to learn the mystery passphrase and win a lovely prize from a top toy shop in Harrogate too…

Another favourite set to return over the coming weeks is our roaming street entertainment campaign – which we fully fund every year to create a vibrant town centre and add an additional entertainment element to Harrogate for a number of weekends every year! If you spot ‘Team BGee’ dancing to hit classics such as ‘Stayin’ Alive’ or ‘Night Fever’, the lost explorers venturing around Harrogate or the Los Skankos twins swaggering around the streets, be sure to stop, say hello and get involved with the fun! Last year, our street entertainment became somewhat of an ‘internet sensation’ with one video of the ‘Team BGee’ guys gathering over one million views across social media!

You may have also spotted one of our new street art campaigns located along a previously empty, bare wall along Cheltenham Road. The vibrant, bright, cheerful new artwork has been designed and created to catch the eyes of both local people and visitors to our town centre, with one of the busiest multi-storey car parks located just around the corner. This is just one of the creative projects we’re planning to deliver this year, so watch this space for any updates…

As ever, our teams on the street have continued to deliver the vital services outline in our business plan. From planned or reactive street cleaning and maintenance works, to partnership working to support the prevention of crime and anti-social behaviour, our two Street Rangers and Town Centre Support Officer are always on hand to help to ensure our town centre upholds its reputation as the ‘jewel in Yorkshire’s crown’ and remains a safe, clean and welcoming place to live, work and visit for all.
